Morning walk and 9 month well appointment

This morning we decided to go for a nice long walk.  Eric got home from working over night and we went as soon as Avery had some breakfast.  It was already pretty hot at 8am this morning.
We stopped at the neighborhood park so Avery could swing for a bit.
Avery had her 9 month well check today.  She didn't have to have any shots which was nice.  She will get a bunch at her one year appointment.  She weighs 20 pounds and 3 ounces.  She is 28 1/2 inches long.  She is 75-90% in everything.  Her small umbilical hernia is nothing to worry about.  Her top two teeth have finally broken through the gum.
Avery was cracking up playing with the paper that lined the office bed.  She was grabbing it and waving it around and ripping it.  She thought ripping the paper was the funniest thing ever.

Our Direct TV box bit the dust today so we don't have any TV until Monday or Tuesday.  We lost all our recorded shows.  Bummer.

Tonight for dinner we are having steaks with rosemary potatoes and green beans.  I'm looking forward to our nice dinner.  Maybe I'll make the brownies tonight that I wanted last night.

Lots of playing today

After breakfast and the 9 month photo shoot this morning, we all played in the play room for awhile.  Eric helped Avery stand up and look out the front windows.  She likes looking out at the trees and flowers.
Avery took an awesome morning nap for me.  When she got up it was lunch time, so she had her solids and I got her dressed for the day.  Eric went to the the gym and ran a few errands.  We played and did some laundry.
After an outfit change (hello spit up), Avery and Rolo had fun playing in the play room.  The toys where all over the floor.
Avery checking out all of the books.  Those ended up all over the floor too!
My mom sent me a little package today with two cute outfits in it for Avery.  I love them!  Thanks mom!
For dinner we had shredded spicy chicken tacos with refried beans.  Avery LOVED it.  She gobbled up her chicken, cheese, beans and tortillas.  I'm so happy she enjoys eating all of the foods we cook.  She made a huge mess and went right into the bath after eating.
She got mad at me because I kept redirecting her away from the computer wires in the family room.  She had tons of toys and books out, but she just wanted that wire.  It is hard to watch her every second and she wants to get into everything and put everything in her mouth.  I'm thinking about unloading her pack and play to set up in the living room.  I need a place to put her when I need to cook or clean or just not have to keep an eye on her for a few minutes.  She isn't super interested in being in her jumper or exersaucer anymore.
Rolo is just worn out after all of the playing today.
It's only 5:30 and Avery is already in bed.  Who knows if she will stay in there or not.  Once she is down for the night I may or may not do some of the chores that got neglected all day today.  Or I might make some brownies.  I think the second option sounds much better.

Happy 9 Months Avery!

Look who is 9 months old today!  I can't believe my little baby girl is already 9 months.  She is getting so big.  This first year is really flying by.  Pretty soon I'll be planning her first birthday party.  Avery is such a sweet, happy, and easy baby.  Here she is for her 9 month photo shoot!

Avery is wearing 18 month clothes, size 3 shoes (they are a little big, but will last awhile!), and size 4 diapers.  She sleeps through the night most nights for 12 hours.  She is usually in bed around 6pm and starts waking up at 6am.  Sometimes she will fall back asleep for me until 8am which is really nice!  She has four 6oz. bottles of formula a day.  She eats 3 big solid meals a day.  Besides her baby food, she loves real bananas, yogurt, spaghetti, pizza, drinking water, rice and beans, shredded cheese, steamed vegetables, and red velvet cake!  She loves watching, petting and climbing all over Rolo Brown.  She usually takes two naps for me, but sometimes just one long nap.  She loves bath time!  She has been a great shopping partner and always does so well in her stroller or sitting in the shopping cart.  She likes playing with her little friends when we have play dates.  She is moving around all over the place!  She will roll, scoot, and crawl across rooms to get to things.

Sweet Avery Blake - You make our days so happy and bright.  We love you very much!

Surgery and spaghetti dinner

Avery woke up at 6am this morning.  I was not ready to be awake yet, so I let her play, talk, and fuss some in her crib for awhile.  I heard her on and off while I dozed off some.  After letting her be for an hour, I decided to get up and go get her.  After brushing my teeth and putting my contacts in, I realized she fell back asleep!  She ended up sleeping until 8:15am for me!  It was so nice.  I ended up not going back to bed.  I got Rolo his breakfast and let him in the backyard to play while I enjoyed my morning cup of coffee.

Once Avery woke up, she had her breakfast and then we played for awhile.  She loves moving around on these wood floors.  It helps her move quicker than if she is on the carpet or rugs.  Her pajamas got dirty during breakfast, so I put her in a new cute t-shirt my mom sent her.  It has a strawberry on it to match her hair!  I love getting little surprises in the mail for Avery.

Before heading to my appointment, I put Avery in one of the cute summer outfits I bought for her.  It says summer sweet heart on it.  It is really cute.  The bow is from Two Sisters Crafting.  It matched this outfit perfectly.
I wanted her to wear her white sandals, but she wanted to try and eat them instead.  They stayed home.  I didn't want to lose one while out.

I love my beautiful baby girl.
My appointment today for my small surgery was at 3pm.  I was really nervous all day.  It was quick though.  The needles I got before to numb me stung.  I got 4 of them.  The 5th needle I didn't feel.  I didn't feel the procedure at all.  Going home my local wore off and I was in a lot of pain.  We had to stop at CVS to get my pain killers on the way home.  I popped one as soon as we got it.  I am still having some pain and discomfort, but the drugs have taken the edge off.  I took a hot shower to try and relax.  I really hope that I start feeling better now that I had this surgery done.  Eric is home with me tonight and on Avery duty since I have to take it easy and stay sitting or laying down.  I hope the pain isn't as bad tomorrow.

I prepared some spaghetti sauce in the crock pot this morning so we would have it ready after my appointment.  It was a great idea because dinner was so easy.  Eric just had to prepare the spaghetti noodles.  We decided to give Avery her first taste of real spaghetti that wasn't out of a jar.  She LOVED it!  I knew my baby girl would love spaghetti.  It is my favorite meal!  We didn't do anything special to her plate... she had the noodles and the sauce how I prepared it, meat and all the spices.  I think Eric gave her a little cheese on it too.  She went to town!

Loving her spaghetti!
I'm parked in the recliner for the rest of the night until I go to bed.  Eric is rocking Avery to sleep now and going to clean up the kitchen.  I might see if I can talk him into watching Bachelorette with me tonight.  Hope everyone has had a great Monday!

Mighty Fine Sunday

Today Avery and I met up with my friend Emily and her daughter Sophia for lunch and some shopping.  We decided to take the girls over to Mighty Fine Burgers.  We both love that place.  The girls had a great time looking around and enjoying some puffs and water.  Emily and I enjoyed our burgers and fries.

Sophia's new thing is sticking out her tongue.  It is hilarious!  She just keeps sticking it in and out.  I just love this little sweet pea!
Avery was in a fabulous mood while out.  She inhaled her puffs even after having a really large lunch at home before going out.  I got a silly face on camera of her too.
Avery loves drinking cold water from the straw.
After lunch at Mighty Fine, we drove down to Once Upon A Child to see if we could find the girls some good toys and books.  No such luck.  We headed to Target afterwards.  After Target we decided to call it a day since it was 2pm and the girls needed afternoon naps.

I'm already getting nervous about my small surgery tomorrow.  I know it is routine and will be quick but I can't help it.  My stomach is in knots.  I know I am worrying over nothing.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Saturday with new crafts

I'm happy to report that Avery took two great naps for me today!  After her nice long 2 hour morning nap, we headed over to Super Target for a few things and to just get out of the house for a little while.  I picked out the new pink and white lamp I want for Avery's bedroom.  Out of her entire nursery set we got, the only coordinating things left in her bedroom are the lamp and window valance.  I'm going to change out the lamp and make a new pink and green window valance.  Her room will have more girly touches to it with the added pink.

After Avery's afternoon nap, we did some playing in the family room.  She was in a really good playful mood.
Our friends Michael and Jenny stopped over with their daughter Rhyan and dog Rudder.  Jenny made me this adorable bow holder bulletin board for Avery's room.  I just love it!
Jenny also made Avery's this personalized bib!  Check out her website and Facebook page.  Two Sisters Crafting and Two Sisters Crafting Facebook Page
Avery chowed down on some rice and beans with cheese and veggies for dinner tonight.  She was so content and happy feeding herself after a massive meltdown.  I guess eating relaxed her!
Look how cute the bow holder bulletin board looks all fixed up!  I'm going to have Eric hang it up in Avery's room tomorrow.  I'm going to have all of her monthly photos displayed on it.  And all of her cute bows.  I already want to buy more!
As I was cleaning up around the house, I put the new bib on the doorknob of Avery's room.  It actually looks really cute hanging there, so I might keep it on her door!
Avery just doing some evening jumping.  She hasn't loved spending as much time in her jumper lately, so I was surprised she stayed in there for about 30 minutes.
Hope you are having a great Saturday!

Quiet Friday

Today we where going to meet my friend Angie and her kids at the mall, but Angie and I both decided to go shopping next Friday instead.  I have been really tired all day today and not feeling 100%.  We still ran over to the pet store and Old Navy this morning, but have been hanging at home the rest of the day.  I found a cute summer dress to wear for Avery's 9 month pictures in a couple weeks.

After lunch, we hung out in the playroom for awhile.  I gave Avery her sippy cup with water.  She is still learning how to use it, but she actually got it in her mouth on her own and was drinking a little water.
So happy to be playing!

Today has been a quiet day for us.  Avery has not wanted to nap, so I haven't had a good break all day.  I'm finishing up laundry and going to catch up on Bachelorette tonight.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

King Ranch Chicken

I got this recipe off the Rotel website.  I've made it a few times.  It's delicious.

Ingredients:

    1/4 cup margarine
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped (I use red pepper, not a fan of green)
    1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed cream of chicken soup
    1 can (10 oz.) rotel
    2 cups cubed cooked chicken
12 corn tortillas, torn into bite-sized pieces (I use half wheat tortillas and half crunched up tortilla chips)
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.  In a large saucepan, cook pepper and
onion in melted margarine until tender, about 5 minutes.  Add soups, rotel and chicken, stirring until well blended.  In a 13 x 9 x 2-inch
baking pan, alternately layer tortillas, soup mixture and cheese, repeating
for three layers.  Bake 40 minutes or until hot and bubbling.  Serves 8.

Walmart and lowering the crib

This morning Avery and I went to Walmart to do some much needed grocery shopping.  We seriously had nothing in the house for Eric and I to eat.  Avery had plenty of her food!  We took our time going up and down all the isles to make sure we got everything we needed.  I made a meal plan for the next few days so we know what we're having.  I've been slacking on that lately and need to be better about it.  Tonight we are having King Ranch Chicken.  One of my favorites!  Recipe to follow.

After Avery took her afternoon nap, Eric and I lowered her crib.  She has been sitting up more and pulling herself up on the crib bar.  While we worked on that, she played with Rolo for awhile on the floor.  Eric was able to snap this really cute shot of them together.  Rolo just lets her crawl all over him.
After evening bath, we tried out the new lowered crib.  She can still reach and pull up, but even if she is standing there is no way she can fall out.  For now.
I'm sure this crib will have lots of teeth marks on it.
Hope everyone has a great night.  Tomorrow is Friday!

Just the girls!

Today Avery and I went to go and visit my friend Emily and her daughter Sophia at their new apartment.  They moved into the complex that Eric and I lived in for almost two years.  I loved living there so I am so excited she chose these apartments to live in.  The girls had fun playing for awhile before we headed out to lunch and to do some shopping.

We had lunch at BJ's then went to a few stores around the Sunset Valley area.  We had planned to go over to Once Upon A Child but didn't make it, so I think we are going to get together again tomorrow and head over there.  We had a really fun day hanging out just us girls!

When Avery and I got home, she decided she didn't need a nap.  I tried getting her down multiple times but she wasn't having it.  Instead, this is how I found her when I went into her room.
She is sitting on her knees!  Her crib needs to be lowered as soon as Eric is home again.  She is also chewing on the railing of her crib.  I'm not sure if I did that as a baby, but Eric's mom told me he chewed on his crib and it left a bunch of marks.
Avery is so far fighting her bedtime as well.  Hopefully we don't have a rough night!

Red's Porch

I'm so happy Eric was home with us today.  He needed to sleep some this morning, so while he napped Avery and I went over to South Park Meadows for a little while.  We went to Walmart to stock up on more baby food items.  I also got Avery three pair of new 18 month pajamas.  I had heard that the Faded Glory organic cotton pajamas are great and they are only $5 per set.  They are really cute!  After Walmart, we went over to Target and Carter's just to browse and waste time.

Once we got home, Eric was already awake.  He gave Avery her lunch while I showered and got ready to head out for lunch.  I decided to put Avery in one of her little sundresses with a bow we got from Jenny.  Isn't this adorable!?  She is all set to go out.
We decided to get drinks and lunch at Red's Porch.  We had never been but had heard good things.  They have some high decks to sit on outside that over look the green belt.  It is really pretty.  It was too hot for us to sit outside today so we sat inside.
Of course we ordered an appetizer of chips, salsa and queso!
Avery enjoyed herself snacking on some puffs I brought for her and the queso.
Eric and I split the smoked chicken quesasilla with rice and beans.  I was so happy they split the food in the kitchen and served us our own plates.  I hate having to split food at the table.  Avery loved the rice and beans.
Eric enjoying a nice cold beer to celebrate his 31st birthday and 1st father's day!  Even though we had to celebrate his special weekend a day late, we all still had a great time.
Avery and I being silly at lunch.
The amazing peach cobbler we split for dessert!  It was so good.
We'll be going back to Red's Porch soon.  We really liked it!  After lunch, we headed home and relaxed for most of the afternoon.  We did a little cleaning and got Avery in bed around 6:30-7pm.  We are watching the baseball game now and going to have a small late dinner... probably chips and salsa!  Hope everyone has a great night!
