Today I decorated for fall/Halloween!
My one lone plastic pumpkin. Sad isn't it? I still need to pick up a few decorations. I did get this yummy smelling Yankee Candle to burn in my kitchen. It is Spiced Pumpkin. It is making the entire house smell great.
Avery is happiest playing with boxes. Her birthday and Christmas will be really fun with all the boxes and wrapping paper. I was stocking her baskets at her changing table with diapers and wipes and she was really interested in the wipes box.
Avery was excited about her vegetables at lunch. I'm glad she has been eating them. She really liked the canned mixed vegetables, rinsed off with water, and served warm. I like the cans because they are so easy and she is getting a mixture of five different vegetables. I thought she liked pineapple but the past few days she just sucks in a piece and spits it out.
The big brown dog looking out for fallen veggies.
After an early lunch, we headed out to run a couple errands. We stopped at CVS to pick up my prescriptions first. Then we headed over to Costco to do some shopping. Avery loves riding around in the cart at Costco. So much to look at. We even got a sample of some ice cream bars! We picked up tons of groceries and her last container of formula. I can't believe she will be drinking all whole milk soon. We have already started the transition, but are taking it slow. Within a month she will be off formula. That will be nice on the bank account!
Once we got home and unloaded everything, we spent some of the afternoon playing in the living room. We had lots of toys out and some cartoons on the Disney channel playing. We played chase and hide and seek.
Here she comes!!
Mother and daughter sippy cups.
Today was a nice day. I'm looking forward to the next few days. Eric will be home Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday I am spending part of the day with one of my best friends Angie and her kiddos at her house. We are making a few things for Avery's party.
Enjoy your night!

lots of errands, rain, and a little play date
Avery and I ran a bunch of errands after her morning nap and lunch. We went to Advance Auto and Walmart to return the used starter and battery for my truck. I got a total of $30 back! Then we made a small return at Bath and Body Works which was another $17 back! Our last stop was Target to get some groceries, toiletries, and some other random things. We got home a little after 1pm. When we left Target it was really humid out and we saw lots of dark clouds. I was so excited to see a sky that looked like it was going to storm. We had lots of dark clouds the rest of the afternoon. While Avery took a long afternoon nap we ended up getting some rain! It was so nice! I really hope we get some more rain over the next couple of days! Lord knows we need it!!
Around 3pm my friend Emily and her daughter Sophia stopped over for a little while. We talked and let the girls play. They are so funny together. They both blow raspberries at one another and just smile and talk. Sophia is already standing up on her own at 9 months! Here are a bunch of pictures from our late afternoon play date.
Our friends stayed until around 5pm. Avery had her dinner and got her bath. She drank an entire sippy of water while playing before bed. Avery was in bed a little after 6pm. She was tired after a busy day of errands and playing!
I'm not being as productive as I would like tonight. I've done the dishes, got all of the trash together and outside, and all of the laundry done. Still haven't tackled the bathrooms yet. I hate that chore. Maybe tomorrow. Have a good night!

another day at home
Well today was another day spent at the house. I'm so happy that Eric is going to pick up a new battery for my truck this evening and get it fixed. Not being able to go out anyplace since Monday hasn't been fun. We did the usual playing, cartoons, and short walk today. I picked up around the house (didn't clean) and finished a small load of laundry.
This evening I decided to make Avery and I a box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for dinner. She loved it and gobbled it up. Just like her mama! She is so serious in this picture.
After dinner was bath time. She likes watching the water run into the tub and watching me toss all the bath toys in.
Leaning over to test out the water.
Washing Avery has become a challenge. She used to just lay down or sit still for me in the tub. Now she is crawling all over the place and standing up in the tub! It makes me nervous. Here she is standing up after she tossed some toys out onto the floor!
I'm happy to report that we have found a great sippy cup that Avery has been able to use. She still tosses it around and plays with it, but she will just sit and drink if she is thirsty. I'm so happy she is drinking water! She has about 5 to 6 ounces of water a day from the sippy cup! It is the Dr. Browns brand. It was an expensive cup, but worth it if it helps her drink. I want to get another one next time I go to Buy Buy Baby.
I'm going to wash the dishes and then play with Avery until her bedtime! Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

fall, high fives, and my truck (again)
I'm so excited and ready for fall. I know in most other parts of the country, the temps are already cooler and the leaves are changing colors. I miss that so much. It is still hot here in Texas and it doesn't feel like fall at all. Since the weather isn't cooperating with me, I've decided to try and bring some fall into the house! I bought few fall scented candles at Target (this one is pumpkin spice and smells awesome!).
I got a bunch of fall scented hand soaps at Bath and Body Works. I love all of their fall and Halloween soaps.
I have Avery's hoodies all ready to go in her room.
I really want to go over to Hobby Lobby to buy some more fall house decor and some Halloween decorations. This is my favorite time of the year (besides Christmas!) and I really want to make the house feel warm and cozy.
Yesterday I tried a new chili recipe from my Kraft Food and Family magazine. It is pulled pork chili. We got it started really early in the morning. It had to cook on low for about 10 hours. It turned out pretty well, but next time I want to add more heat to it. I love spicy chili!
I also decided to do some baking yesterday. I made some peanut butter blossoms which are one of my favorites. It felt like Christmas when I was baking because that is usually the only time of year I have these. They are so good!
Avery has started to learn how to give a high five. Here is an action shot of her playing with Eric.
Looking cute and playing after her bath. I love her cute new pajamas.
My car hasn't been working since Monday afternoon. My friend Angie's husband Doc came over last night after work. They guys spent a good amount of time outside working on my truck. Doc got the starter installed and showed Eric how to do it. Then we found out I also needed a new battery.
Eric is going to pick up a new battery this evening when he gets off work. He will install it tonight. Thanks for coming over and helping us last night Doc! I sent him home with a container of pulled pork chili and some cookies as a thank you.
Today Avery and I are at home again. I'm going to be productive around the house with some cleaning and laundry (hopefully) and we are going to take a walk after lunch to get some fresh air. Hope everyone is having a great day!

two bummers: erin leaves and my truck
Once again I have a post with no pictures.
Erin left to go home today. I'm bummed. It is always so much fun when we have our long weekends together. We are hoping she can fly out in December or January. Neither of us like going 6-8 months without seeing each other. Thanks for coming out to Texas to visit Erin! I had so much fun and I'm going to miss you a ton!
When Erin, Avery, and I left to take Erin to the airport my truck wouldn't start. I tried to get it to start multiple times. Nothing. Luckily Eric was close by at a doctor appointment and was able to get home and drive Erin to the airport. She made her flight. I'm pretty sure I need a new starter. My battery was just checked at Sears about three weeks ago and it was fine. I was told that a new starter could be in my future. Well, it sure is. It sucks. We are going to figure out what to do with my truck tomorrow. Boo.
I'm relaxing tonight. I am so tired. I haven't been sleeping well and have been staying up way too late the past few days. It will be an early night for me. I need to watch Bachelor Pad first though!
Hope everyone had a fun weekend!

we will never forget
We all started off our morning watching the news coverage for 9-11 remembrance. It was very emotional watching the news and remembering the horrible events of that day. It is something our generation will never forget and future generations will never fully understand. Ten years ago today, I was sitting at work in the call center of a government credit union in the DC area. I worked with my best friend Erin. I'm happy that during that scary day I was with her when our building was forced to lock down and we couldn't leave. It is pretty cool that 10 years later, we are spending this same day together in Texas. God Bless 9-11 We Will Never Forget.
After our morning of TV and breakfast, Eric stayed at home with Avery while Erin and I went out for a little while. We had lunch at Chili's and went to Target. It was nice to get out and talk for awhile. We picked up a few things at Target and headed home. We hung around the house the rest of the day. We took some pictures this afternoon after Avery's nap since she was in a good mood.
Avery just loves Erin!
The two of us... Erin looks cute and I decided to make a stupid duck face just because. I'll never understand why people do that in pictures.
Avery with her new sippy cup. She is doing a little better with it. She drank about two ounces of apple juice/water today.
Eric is at work tonight, so Erin and I are relaxing this evening. We have some shows to catch up on. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
