more bath fun and shrimp

This morning after everyone had breakfast, we got dressed and headed over to Costco.  We had a pretty big list of things that we needed.  We stocked up on tons of good stuff and had fun walking around and looking at stuff.  I love going to Costco!  We came home after shopping, had some lunch, got Avery down for a nap, then Eric and Charlene went out to run a few errands.  They got the oil changed in my truck, then stopped at the post office and grocery store.  By the time they got home, Avery was awake and just finishing dinner.  Eric gave Avery her bath tonight.  She just loves playing in the tub!  I think every single one of her bath toys was floating around in the water.  I always hear tons of laughing, screeching, and splashing coming from the bathroom.  I love my sweet little strawberry!
Once Avery was in bed, we got to enjoy our dinner.  We made jalapeno lime shrimp with grilled pineapple and brown rice with cilantro.  It was SO good!  The shrimp and pineapple turned out great on the grill.  We'll be saving this recipe to use in the future.  It is a great summer dish.
We're just relaxing tonight, watching some baseball, talking, and possibly making a frozen custard run.  Hope everyone has a great night!

Grandma Charlene arrived!

We are super excited that grandma Charlene got here yesterday afternoon!  Before she landed, we spent the morning at home doing some laundry and cleaning up a bit.  I didn't scrub and clean the house top to bottom like I normally do before guests because I always seem to have to do a massive cleaning right after anyone leaves.  I just made sure the house was presentable.

While I was folding and putting away clothes in Avery's room, she got her pack of wipes on the floor and started playing with it.  She loves the crinkling sound the wipes package makes.  It keeps her occupied which is fine by me so I can get things done!  Isn't her little top adorable!  I found it for $3 at Old Navy!
Grandma Charlene landed around 2pm.  We all went to the airport to pick her up.  We came straight home once we picked her up because Avery was in major need of an afternoon nap.  While she napped, we all hung out and talked and started working on dinner.  We decided to have rice, beans, ground lean beef, and veggies all mixed together.  It turned out so good and we have tons of leftovers!  Avery loved it.  We also gave her some shredded cheddar cheese to have with her meal.
My huge bowl of rice, beans, meat, and veggies!
Grandma Charlene made Avery two new sleep sacks.  Avery has started to grow out of the one we have.  I love these things!  She always has one on at night.  It is like a light weight blanket she always has on.  She would end up kicking a regular blanket off and not being able to get it back on.  Even in warmer months, I still like having a sheet or something over me at night.  These fit perfect and are super cute!  Grandma Charlene is going to make us some for the winter months with a fleece material and princess designs.
Hope everyone had a great Wednesday evening!

The past two days

Yesterday my friend Emily and I went shopping down at San Marcos outlet mall.  It was really nice to have a girls day out without the babies.  We had lunch and did some shopping.  I didn't buy a ton even thought I had birthday money to spend.  I want to shed some pounds before using money towards clothes.  I still had a great time out and about with one of my good friends.

When I got home from shopping, Eric and I had dinner, gave Avery dinner, and got Avery in the bath.  She just loves to play and splash in the water.  I had to get a picture of her having fun!
Today Eric had a brew day and made two different beers.  I spent the day with a very loud and cranky baby inside.  Avery feels like she has 3 teeth coming in at once on the top of her mouth.  She got some Tylenol today to see if it would help, but she still seemed to be annoyed by her teeth.  She was nice enough to let me take some cute new pictures of her in the big chair in the living room.  I got her a few new bows at a stand at the mall yesterday.  One had strawberries on it, so I had to buy that for her!

Trying to grab my camera.  Little stinker.

Eric has a dental appointment at 4pm so he just left for that.  Once he gets home we are going to be doing some cleaning and laundry.  Eric's mom is flying in from Colorado tomorrow afternoon, so we want the house to look nice.  We are looking forward to having her here for a long weekend!

Birthday brunch

Since Eric had to work last night and had to sleep most of yesterday, we went to brunch today for my birthday.  I decided on going to Red's Porch again.  We love the atmosphere, the food is great, and they have a great beer selection for Eric.  They have a great brunch menu on Sunday from 10-2.  Avery was very interested in Eric's beer today.
We got the awesome chips and queso and salsa.  We got this last time and just loved it.
I got the migas for my meal.  I was excited to see the fresh watermelon come with the meal.
Eric got eggs with veggies and potatoes.  His food looked really good too.
I gave Avery some watermelon for the first time.  The kid loved it.  She was dripping watermelon juice all over.  I hope it doesn't stain her cute shirt she had on!
Avery and I in front of Red's after brunch.
After brunch we headed home.  Avery and Eric both napped.  I should have napped, but talked on the phone instead.  Once Eric woke up, I ran over to Super Target to get our groceries for the week and get gas in my truck.  We've been relaxing this evening.  I'm looking forward to my day of shopping tomorrow down at the outlets!

Happy Birthday to me!

I can't believe I'm 30 years old today!  When Eric came home from work this morning he had flowers, a card, and donuts for breakfast.  It was a nice surprise. I love having fresh flowers in the house.
This is how my little one greeted me this morning.  She didn't let me sleep in on my birthday, but how can you not smile as soon as you walk in seeing this sweet face?
All dressed in one of her cute summer outfits I got her at Children's Place.  I think little halter tops are adorable on babies!
We didn't do much today since Eric had to go back to work this evening.  He slept until 1pm, we had lunch together, and played with Avery.  My good friend Emily came over this evening with dinner and cookies from Panera.  Every summer Panera has this awesome strawberry chicken salad.  We both had that with chocolate chip and M&M cookies.  It was so good!  We spent the evening just relaxing and talking.  I love that we can both just hang out on the couch watching TV and playing on laptops/phones.
Emily surprised me with this beautiful mama bird necklace!  It has Avery's name on it and her gemstone hanging from it.  I LOVE IT!!!  Emily has the same one with Sophia's name and gemstone on it and I always said how much I liked it.  It was a wonderful surprise.  Thank you so much Emily!
I'm really looking forward to the next week.  Starting tomorrow Eric is off work for a week.  Tomorrow we are going out for my birthday to either brunch or lunch depending on Avery's nap schedule.  On Monday I'm going shopping down at the San Marcos outlets with Emily and Angie while Eric stays home with Avery.  On Wednesday, Eric's mom Charlene is flying in for a long weekend.  I almost feel like I am getting a birthday week instead of just a birthday!

Friday Play Date

I had two of my good friends and their little ones come over to the house today for a play date/mommy hang out.  Angie came over with Austin and Kinley, and Emily came over with Sophia.  I picked up some croissants, chicken salad, and apples for our lunch.  It was really good!  Right after Angie and her kids arrived, Avery needed a bottle and a nap!

Here is pretty Kinley hanging out and playing in the pack and play.  She is so close to walking!  She is standing up on her own.  It is so fun watching her to see what Avery will be doing in a couple months.
Austin loved playing with Rolo.  Rolo kept giving Austin kisses.
Sweet Sophia playing and being her happy little self on the floor.
The gang in the family room minus Avery since she was still napping.  She took a marathon nap and missed half the get together!  She needed it though because she has been very cranky all day.  I have a feeling she is cutting another tooth.  She has been drooling up a storm.
Angie and the kids brought over a cute little birthday cake for me!  It was a fun surprise.  They even brought over some little candles for it so we could sing Happy Birthday.  Thanks guys for the cake, I'm still eating it!  HA!
Austin singing me Happy Birthday.  He is such a sweet guy.  He became my little cuddle buddy all day.  He sat with me on the couch, curled up with me on the floor, and sat in my lap.
Austin was our photographer and took this picture of all the girls.  I did have a nicer shirt on, but Avery spit up all over me about 10 minutes before friends arrived.
Avery finally woke up from her nap and joined the fun.
Avery and Sophia playing together in the pack and play.
Angie and Emily - I had a really fun day!  Thanks for coming over and hanging out with us.  We'll have to do it again very soon and plan a pedicure get together as well!

Avery is in bed, so I've got a bunch of cleaning up to do and a few loads of laundry.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Friday!

Girl's Night In

Last night my friend Emily hosted a girl's night in at her apartment.  It is the first of many themed girls nights to come!  I had to bust out the Louie just for the occasion.
This girls night had the theme of All American.  We made sure to have all American food and a craft/project to do.  Emily picked up a bunch of colorful pens and notebooks so could all make Glam Books.  Remember Slam Books from middle and high school?  Well, these Glam Books are set up similar to that except we aren't bashing people (we just talked out loud about that stuff!) we are asking all different kinds of questions to get to know our group better.  It was tons of fun and a great idea.  We'll be bringing our Glam Books to all future GNI's!
We had lots of great food for dinner last night.  We had hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, watermelon, salad, chips and watermelon salsa.
We ran out of utensils, so we had to use the ice cream scooper for the baked beans.  Classy!
Karen getting herself a hot dog!
Miss Sophia had no desire to get to sleep last night.  She wanted to join the fun!  Sara and Sophia hanging out together on the couch.
Karen, Kelly and Erin filling their plates with some yummy food.
Here are the awesome s'mores brownies that Kelly made us!  These are so good and I can't wait to try this recipe!
Emily and Erin with Sophia hanging out as we went over our Glam Book answers.
Sophia the party animal!  I'm not sure what time she actually passed out, but it was pretty late!  Hopefully she slept in some for Emily this morning.
Of course I'm not in any pictures since I was behind the camera.  And I didn't get any pictures of Lauren either!  Next time, there will be a fun group picture cause we all know I need it for the blog!
